On October 2, 2008 five missionaries from the parishes of St. Barbara in Toms River, and St. Nicholas in Wyckoff, New Jersey spent one week at the Hogar Rafael Ayau Orphanage in Guatemala City, Guatemala. Under the spiritual leadership of Fr. Paul, the missionaries traveled to the orphanage with over 200 pounds of children’s medications, 200 pair of pajamas, new shoes, and over $5000.00 in monetary donations. The mission team spent the week cutting grass, pulling weeds, playing with the children, and an art project. The team also sponsored a carnival along with a pizza party. The mission team, with the blessing of the Madres, also replaced the carpeted floors in the nursery with new rubberized flooring. With the monetary donations, the team paid for the extra suitcases (22), the carnival, the rubber flooring, new school supplies for the 2009 school year, and $900.00 worth of diapers. Great is God! Please enjoy the pictures and consider becoming part of our next mission team.
