Urgent Need to Donate to the Orthodox Community in Western Kenya

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I would like to bring to your attention a matter that speaks to the heart of a Christian. It is a matter of helping the poor, the destitute, the hungry and promote charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes of our Greek Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox Diocese of Kisumu and Western Kenya is facing a great financial burden. It involves the shipment of goods in four containers. These containers have miscellaneous goods for the charity work of the Diocese and its many needs. The supplies were meant to be distributed to the priests and their families, to parishes, to schools and orphanages and to the poor who knock on the door of the local churches on a daily basis.

Container fees and local tax payments nearing at $25,000, must be met before the containers are released to the Orthodox Diocese of Kisumu. Unfortunately, our Orthodox brothers and sisters of Kenya do not have the means to pay for all the accrued fees. This matter is of urgency and time sensitive since the containers have been detained for several months at port.

We are blessed to live in a country of opportunity and plenty where there is an abundance of food and goods to meet our daily needs. God is generous and kind and He has given us so much. We all at some point in our lives have felt the gifts of God touch our hearts. However, we need to keep in mind that “much is required from the person to whom much is given; much more is required from the person to whom much more is given.” (Luke12:48)

We have an opportunity to bring the Lord’s light to a very dark part of the world. Donations are needed to help ease the financial burden for the Orthodox Diocese of Kisumu and Western Kenya and to use our God given gifts for good in this world. It’s a call to put our good intentions into action.

Please find it in your heart to give for this cause. No amount is too small. Donations are tax deductible and can be made through the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC). OCMC is registered under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The OCMC set up an account for Western Kenya Container Release fund. The instructions below are ways to get supported routed properly to OCMC/Orthodox Diocese of Kisumu and Western Africa.

Thank you for your love and for your consideration.

Respectfully,

Fr. Paul
